Affiliate marketing is a practice whereby a business rewards one or many affiliates for each customer attracted by the marketing strategies. These strategies include reward sites as well as the referral to other sites. There is an industry affiliate marketing resource which comprises of a retailer or brand, network, publisher and customer. Other players include super affiliates, specialized vendors and affiliate management agencies. Affiliates are an extended sales force for small businesses. Multi tier programs are included as an affiliate marketing resource. Retailers favor marketing as there are no marketing expenses incurred by the retailer unless results are obtained unlike display advertising. Some retailers prefer to run their own affiliate programs by using software or use outsourced program management.
