Ah, the coveted number one page on Google question. It has become very evident that it can actually be done. Before discussing the strategy it must be noted that in order to getting a high ranking you really need to write an excellent original article. If you copy and paste bits and pieces of articles and then change a few words it doesn't work as well.

There has been a lot of discussion of keywords being the king when it comes to article marketing. Well it should be shouldn't it? How else to people find things on the internet. You type a word or phrase into a search box and then it goes off into cyberspace and then comes back with millions and even on occasion billions of answers pertaining to the words that you queried.

How do you take advantage of the keywords?

That is why keywords are so important. How do you take advantage of the keywords results that come back and use them in your article? Hit the monthly searches tab on your keyword list and get the number of searches per month in an order that you can see the amount of searches in order. You can set it up highest to lowest or vice versa.

Once your keyword lists is in order find an amount of searches that you want to compete with. Some have suggest to compete with the keywords with about 50K on down. Not up, down. This is what is being referred to as the long tail. If you look at a supply and demand chart and you see that the most popular keywords are way up there and then it comes straight down and then fans off to the right creating a tail.

The high spike and the slope down is an indicator of how much the most popular keywords are being used. It also means a ton of competition with big money that enables them to corner the market. If you are trying to break into a part of this market then go for the 50,000 or less words and compete there. You may get on the first page of Google in no time and then again it might take a few days.

Another way that seems to be helping a lot of sites is to add a picture to the description to the article. Google is starting to rank pages higher when they have a picture alongside them in the search engine. Please read Google's guidelines on how to do that.

In your articles you use these words in your articles in a fashion that doesn't make your article sound like a commercial for our article. Just try to be mindful of the words when you are writing and try to merge them into the story as they fit in. If you go overboard the article will probably not get accepted and when you re-read the page you'll see that it doesn't sound good anyway. Just write your article without really thinking about the words and then add some in of they fit during your own editing.
