SEO - Google Becomes "Social" |

Google Becomes More "Social" Google has been wrestling with how to deal with the terrific popularity of social media web sites and apps like Twitter, Facebook and more. Now Google is updating their regular search features so that when you search, if you are logged in to a Google account, you will be able to search your friend's postings in Youtube, Twitter, Flickr, and their blogs as well. Google states that you are more able to search "relevant" material and content now, from your online friends and connections. Users will also have access to relevant information in articles from Google Reader. When logged into Google, a user can conduct a web search, and once on the results page choose the "more" link to add Social Search results to the mix. These results will come up in a new window or tab and are more limited to relevant information from your Google contacts. The Social Search was an experiment in Google Labs, and has now "graduated" to become a regular feature. It is unlikely it will prevent the huge continuation in growth of Facebook. It is a step in the direction of making Google more socially oriented and opens the doors for future applications that should provide a more personalized Google experience. In order for a Google search to show content from a user's Facebook friends, the user must log into Google and Facebook as well, to enable that search capability, because Facebook posts and information are only open to their registered users. This offers some minimal security to those who are afraid their Facebook information will be mined for data. Fred Meek is a professional Austin SEO consultant in Austin Texas. Source: Ezine
