MMO - How to Make Money With AdSense - Chapter 4 - Do You Need a Product?

One of the great things about monetizing your site with AdSense is that you don't really even need a product to sell. In fact, most marketers find they have greater success if they don't put anything BUT AdSense on their sites. Having a banner over there in the sidebar can be a distraction. And if you're making more money when someone clicks on your AdSense ad than you are if they click on that banner, then you really don't even want it on the page.

However, using high converting products as the basis for your niche and keyword research will help improve your click-through rate. For example:

Let's say you heard about a new acne medication that just hit the market and it's selling like crazy. Everybody is talking about it at Yahoo Answers and they're tweeting about it on Twitter. You do your research on it and find out that thousands of people every day are searching for information on this product but very few marketers are promoting it yet. Now you can do one of two things:

Affiliate marketing - You could find out if the manufacturer of the acne medication has an affiliate program. Then you could set up an affiliate site with tons of content. You could create some type of free giveaway guide and set up a squeeze page to get people to join your list. Then you could start sending them emails to get them interested. And THEN you could set up a high converting sales page to get them to actually buy the product. Within a few months you should have a few hundred subscribers and maybe get 2 or 3 sales a week.

AdSense marketing - OR - you could set up a quick AdSense site - in one afternoon - put a few well written articles with the appropriate keywords in all the right places, do a little promotion and start making money tomorrow.

You see, the beauty of AdSense marketing is that YOU don't actually have to try to sell the product. You just need to provide enough quality, informative content to make people want to click on those AdSense ads and get more information. You don't need to create an attention grabbing freebie to get people to sign up to your list, you don't need to write an award winning sales page - all YOU need to do is get them to click and the advertiser takes care of the rest.
