SEO - SEO - Keywords, Page Rank Can Take a Hike

Why care about SEO, Search Engine Optimization, for your website? There are numerous billions of web pages which translates to who knows how many websites, and the number is growing exponentially. How can anything I could possibly do to try and make my site rank higher in a literal digital universe matter? Keywords can take a hike as far as I'm concerned. Same for you, page rank.

I'm just not sure it does anymore. Mr. Average Joe with his business website just like mine doesn't really stand a chance, does he? I honestly don't know if any of it matters anymore. I think what matters most is having a great idea with a good website and making sure it gets exposure in as many different avenues as you can find: getting that link out there through any channel possible.

The big hope is that someone somewhere will find your site irresistible and will start the ol' viral chain reaction. But, you gotta look at the numbers game. You are one of but many billions out there in the cyber landscape. You gotta just hope that most folks with websites have long ago given up caring about them anymore because like so many of us, progress is painstakingly slow and frustrating.

Maybe I am being too pessimistic, but I kinda' doubt it. I've been at this too long. And, depending upon how you see it, the good, or the stupid news, is: I'm not giving up, ever.

I'm just no longer sweating the search engine obsession any longer. I just keep me head down and plow forward getting the word out about my site in any and every way possible. I figure if it ever does become an online sensation, it will rise closer to the top of the search engines. So, if anything happens along those lines, it'll be like taking the back door to the top. Cool. You go ahead and drive yourself insane with keywords and keyword phrases, and long tail keywords, and all your analytics and research while I just blast my business site as far and wide as I can.

I may not be the smartest online marketer and entrepreneur on the Net, and I may never make a decent burgeoning income from it, but I love the chase just the same. You always hear the line about doing the same thing over and over again, failing miserably, but continuing to do it expecting different results. Some call it the definition of insanity. I prefer to call it...me!
