As many web-masters are aware AdSense is a fantastic source of income for a website if it is set up correctly. Some spend years trying to get their adverts set up correctly some make it to big money others do not, the trick is to look at your website as a visitor and think would I click on that advert if I was visiting this site? The problem that occurs on the internet is a thing we call Ad blindness which basically is what it says,because 90% of visitors take no notice of your adverts they see. There are so many ads that they automatically do not see them when visiting a page.

What I am going to cover in this article where the best places are to put your adverts, what are the best colours to choose, how to get your ads to stand out but not to much,and certain codes that you can add to your posts to get relevant adverts on your site.

Ad Placement
This is the most important thing that you need to consider when building your website is where you put your ads,there are many options for this as you can put them anywhere on a page or a post. What you need to do is think as a visitor, most people read from left to right and from top to bottom so this is where we need to be concentrating our adverts, the reason for this is because when you get a visitor to your web page you can catch their attention straight away. You need to be putting them either in the top left, top centre, or top right so you get the maximum amount of clicks possible.

The type of AdSense advertisements we need to be using are either

1. 336x 280 Large Rectangle

2. 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle

3. 160 x 600 Wide Skyscraper

These three are the highest paying ones on AdSense they will get more clicks and a better CTR [click through rate].

You also need to take into consideration hows many we should put on the site, the more you have the less they are worth in click value, I usually put a maximum of two advertisements on each page which are a text only and a text and image ad, this way I get a better price on my clicks.

The next thing I will tell to you about setting up your page and posts is think about what you want people to do, try not put to many distractions on the page,example: try not to put excess affiliates on them., or links to other places that is not part of your own website. The reason for this is because you want to achieve one of two things. The pages or posts should have these options, the visitor can read your post/page they can click on your adverts, they can click on your other pages or links or they can leave, this is what we need to put into practice.

The Best Colours To Choose
Choosing the best colours is also a important part of getting clicks on your advertisements.The first rule to follow is to make sure that they blend in with your site, it is no good having a bright red ad on a green coloured page.This will scream advert look at me and no one will want to click it.

What we want to succeed in is to blend in but to be noticeable, to do this I will list some tips to give you an idea of what I mean.

1. Make your colours the same colour as your titles

2. Make them so it is the same colour as the rest of your links but a slightly different shade example: if you have dark blue in your link make your advertisements a different shade of dark blue not to much just so they stand out a little from the rest of your links/titles.

There are many options and colours to choose from, but the highest CTR [click through rate] colours are Blues, Greens and Greys.

Personally I use mainly blue on my own website but as long as you have good content and blend correctly there is no reason why you should not earn from your own.

Code You Can Add To Relevant Content
The problem that can occur with AdSense especially with blogs is that it can show advertisements that is not relevant to what you are talking about in your niche.There is a code you can add to make sure that it shows relevant content which is as follows.
