The trick to AdSense is to first find out which keywords and phrases are high paying in your niche, and make sure that you optimise your website for them. You can do this by visiting AdWords (the Google advertisers portal) and entering a keyword that relates to your topic in the keyword suggestion tool box towards the bottom of the page.

Google will then give you a list of keywords that are related to your topic, as well as the global monthly searches, the local monthly searches, the average cost per click and other data. You want to look for keywords that relate to your niche, that have a high monthly search rate, relatively low competition, and a high CPC.

Once you know which keywords to optimise for, all you do is get AdSense html code from the AdSense site, and copy and paste it onto your site or blog.

How Do You Get Paid?

When you sign up for AdSense, Google will ask for your address. Once your clicks have reached the minimum pay threshold in any month, they will send you a cheque in the mail. You can also log into your Google account at any time, and check what your earning are, and you can use your AdSense code on as many websites as you like, so you can choose many different sites or blogs, all with different keywords and phrases, and maximise your earnings.

Starting out, you probably won't make much, but as your site or blog becomes more popular, you can earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars every month. In fact, there are some bloggers and site owners out there making tens of thousands of dollars every month!
