Are you interested in becoming an affiliate marketer? Perhaps you want to make some extra money and you know that affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make that happen. It is, but there are a few things you want to avoid in order to be successful. 1. Don't Choose A Program That Is Competitive Many affiliate programs actually compete against their competitors. All that does is waste everyone's time and money. You want to choose to be part of an affiliate program with lots of affiliates as this will bring more information and money. Avoid the programs that spend all their efforts competing. 2. Don't Choose A Program With Little Reward If an affiliate program does not pay well, or reward you for your efforts to bring them customers, then you will not earn much. And isn't that part of your reason for promoting the affiliate's product? You will use up your time and energy promoting their products and receive little in return. Find an affiliate with a good payout. 3. Check The Age Of The Statistics Used It is really difficult to get real-time statistics from any affiliate, but some do keep their statistics much more up to date. This is really important. Current statistics will help you to see the best way to promote this product. It should tell you who is buying and from where they are buying. So choose an affiliate that is up to date figures. Old, invalid statistics will do you no good at all. 4. No Support Many times affiliates find themselves waiting for answers to their questions. They have submitted a support ticket, e-mailed the contact person, and still get no answer. Sometimes this can take days, or maybe the answer never shows up. How does that help anyone? If you can't get an answer then likely you will not move forward. That hurts the affiliate, but it also is discouraging because you have probably put a lot of your time and effort into this affiliate. 24 hours is a good time for an affiliate to return an answer to you. So be sure that the affiliate you choose has that promise. 5. Few Marketing Ideas or Creative Materials If your affiliate does not provide you with codes for images, banners, text links, and maybe a couple of e-mail responses as well as articles that you can use, then you have to create it yourself. That is not the purpose of affiliate marketing. If the affiliate wants you to promote his product, then he needs to provide you with proper tools.
